BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild has reflected on a 'tough game' for his side against Sutton United last weekend.

There was nothing to separate Wild and Matt Gray's sides when they met at the SO Legal Stadium on Saturday with the Bluebirds boss admitting that it perhaps was not one for the neutrals.

However, despite this, he detailed how pleased he was with how his side dealt with a side that were on a run of eight games without defeat before coming to Cumbria.

He said: "It was a tough game and it was probably not one for the neutral but there were certainly loads of positives that came out of the game.

"The fact that the form team in the league came to us and did not have a shot on target, we looked strong and we looked compact and we looked like we were tough to break down.

"Sutton are also really good on set pieces and to nullify them on set pieces was really pleasing, and then at the other end to have a couple of chances to win, if you mix in the conditions and you mix in how Sutton played and Gareth and his team did brilliantly to get the game on and get rid of the snow, the pitch being hard and the way they played with it popping up, it was just really tough to get the football down and play so to navigate our way through and come out with a point, all things considered, we are pleased."

Wild also shared what he believes has been the key to his side's impressive run, which has seen them go five matches unbeaten and defeat league highflyers like Bradford City and Stockport County.

He said: "I think we have become more pragmatic and I think we manage games better at the moment and all them things are really pleasing because they are all part of League Two football, so I use the phrase on Saturday ‘if you can’t win don’t lose’ and that is certainly still how I feel about the game."
