BARROW AFC will be closely monitoring League Two results tonight as playoff rivals Stockport County and Sutton United are in action.

The Bluebirds welcome the Us to the SO Legal Stadium on Saturday off the back of an impressive run that has seen them win three of their last four games and potentially opened the playoff door once again.

On that run, Pete Wild's side also defeated Dave Challinor's Stockport County who are embroiled in the play-off scrap and will look to close the gap on the automatic promotion places with a win tonight.

Despite this run of results, prior to the victory in the West Midlands against Walsall last Saturday, Wild shrugged off suggestions that his side was in a playoff race, asserting that he wants his squad to focus on each game as it comes and avoid getting 'egg on our face'.

However, before kick-off tonight Barrow are only four points adrift of seventh-placed Stockport County and level on points with Saturday's opponents Sutton United.

A hindrance to the Barrow's playoff chase is the fact that the teams above them have games in hand, with Sutton and Stockport cashing them in tonight.

The Hatters take on Gillingham tonight off the back of a blip in recent results.

Before being defeated by Barrow Dave Challinor's side had won five league matches on the bounce but the match following the loss at the SO Legal Stadium finished goalless with Doncaster.

On the other hand, Matt Gray's Sutton are unbeaten since the middle of January, with four wins from the seven following that defeat against Salford City.

In addition, eighth-placed Mansfield, who are level on points with Stockport, have two games but face league leaders Leyton Orient next time out.

With the playoff dream potentially still on the cards for the Bluebirds, the Barrow faithful will be hoping for results to go their way tonight ahead of the huge clash with Sutton United this weekend.
