A PARTNERSHIP between local libraries with a creative group is delivering activities to the community through January.

Cumbria Libraries will partner up with 64 million artists to deliver the January Challenge this year.

The January Challenge is a series of 31 fun, quick, free, and accessible creative challenges, for each day of the month.

Cumbria County Council's Libraries Outreach Team have been working with 64 million artists and local community groups to co-create three of the 31 challenges for 2023.

This will happen at Barrow group libraries, including Barrow Central, Askam, Barrow Island, Dalton, Ormsgill, Roose, Walney and Kendal library.

Throughout January, the team will be running community workshops and connecting with groups such as English Cafes and Reading Friends.

To participate in the January Challenge, individuals can sign up to receive a Daily Challenge email or follow along on social media using the hashtag #TheJanuaryChallenge.

Cumbria Libraries will also be posting challenges on their Facebook and Twitter pages. The challenges can be completed on your own, with family or friends, or with colleagues as a team-building activity.

Cllr Deborah Earl, Cumbria County Council Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Services, said:

"Get ready to unleash your creativity and have some fun in 2023 with the January Challenge. Whether you're a writer, artist, creator or wanting to join in on the challenge, there's something for everyone.

"The challenges are fun, quick, and accessible, making them perfect for individuals, families, and friends to get creative together. We can't wait to see what the community comes up with.”
