HOLIDAY park bosses urge visitors not to attend the resort this weekend unless it is 'absolutely necessary'.

Bosses behind Haven Lakeland Holiday Park in Flookburgh have issued a statement online, warning the public not to visit their venue this weekend.

A spokesman for the park said visitors would have 'limited utilities' in the accomodation due to the cold weather.

A spokesman said: "The park is currently icebound and for your safety we’d advise you not to attend park this weekend unless absolutely necessary

"Like most parts of the country, we have suffered a very hard and persistent frost for over a week, and we’re not expecting any thaw until Saturday or Sunday.

"If you haven’t drained down, your pipework will be frozen and it’s highly likely there will be associated damage.

"The extent of any issues may not be apparent until any thaw, and we do not have the ability to thaw out pipework artificially.

"Unfortunately, this will mean you will have limited utilities.

"Our current ability to carry out any repairs has been impacted by the weather, the backlog of work and repairs due to the frost and the availability of parts and specialist contractors.

"Even if you have drained down with us, although unlikely, there is the potential for some damage, which will be covered by the Haven Frost Guarantee.

"If you’re planning on spending the festive period on site, we need to make you aware that the likelihood now is that we may not be able to complete many repairs, including boilers, until the New Year.

"We’re doing everything we can to check for issues, stop them escalating and keeping you informed.

"Please can we ask for your patience and understanding for our teams dealing with such a large volume of significant issues."
