BARROW AFC boss Pete Wild refused to be downhearted after watching his plucky charges narrowly beaten at League One Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday, after they battled back from 2-0 down but were eventually beaten 3-2.

In an interview posted on the official Barrow AFC website, Wild said: "It took us a good 20 minutes to get to grips with them.

"Bolton are a fantastic League One side who are full of top-quality players, and they showed that

"I think what we've done tonight is shown an effort, a desire, and attitude.

"We could've easily crumbled at 2-0 down - we've kept going, and we've grafted for the football club.

"I was really impressed by how we've gone about our second half and our desire to get something out of the game.

Asked what inspired his team at half-time to come back from 2-0 down, Wild said:

"It was more tactical stuff that we've discussed about how to deal with their rotations, how to deal with their threat of how they were getting in.

"It worked, and fair play to the players for executing that, it was a lot of information in a short space of time, and they dealt with it admirably.

Bolton moved the ball well, and what we did, we stopped them playing the way they wanted to play, and then nicked the ball.

I'm really pleased with how we dealt with it tactically, and how the players fixed the problem on the pitch, and it gave us a real chance to get something out of the game.

Wild was clearly aggrieved at a controversial penalty decision that went against the Bluebirds: "Listen, we've all seen it back, it's a nailed-on penalty.

"It's not a tough decision, we've seen the liner's position, and he doesn't deal with the situation.

"It's not as though we've held on, we've had a real good go to try to get that equaliser, and I think we should be really proud of the players tonight.

"We're gonna get on the road now for two tough games, and our defensive qualities are going to have to shine through, and we've had a real good practice at that tonight, and hopefully that can only help us going into these two tough away games."
