HERE is your round-up of the planning applications submitted to the city council in the last seven days.

18 planning applications have been submitted to Carlisle City Council since Tuesday October 11 including proposals to install renewable energy technology, new businesses in empty shop units and extensions to existing properties.

The applications include the addition of a first floor balcony to rear elevation at Blossom Bank in Burgh by Sands and change of use from dwelling to Chinese massage parlour at 1 Spinners Yard, Fisher Street.

C&D Auction Marts Limited have applied for permission to install a roof mounted solar panel array.

70-72 English Street in the centre of Carlisle is the subject of a change of use application to convert it from a retail unit to a betting shop.

The owners of 155 Dalston Road have applied for permission to build a detached garden room.

A certificate of lawful existing development has been received for the storage and sale of motor vehicles, caravans and associated items.

Land to the rear of Capon Tree Veterinary Centre in Greenhill, Brampton is the subject of an application to build four detached dwellings.

An application has been submitted to convert a redundant barn to a dwelling at Nickies Hill Farm, Walton.

The council has also received a certificate of proposed lawful development for the siting of one caravan for ancillary residential use at Woodside, Hawksdale.

Plans have been lodged to temporarily site a static caravan in the front garden of 42 Beck Road, providing annexe accommodation for the owners’ elderly relative.

An application has been submitted for Thorny Knowe, Penton, requesting permission for a two storey side extension, providing a study on the ground floor with one bedroom above and a two storey rear side extension to provide a dining area on the ground floor with one bedroom and bath above.

A single storey side extension is also proposed to provide a porch and single storey rear extension to provide a conservatory.

The public can view and comment on all applications submitted to Carlisle City Council.

Councillors will take comments of support or objection into account when giving their verdict.
