DICK Hartshorn may be forgiven for wanting to slow down in life - but the Barrow Raiders kit man is still going strong at 80.

Dick Hartshorn has been the kitman for the club for many years and celebrated his milestone birthday on August 4.

The birthday boy has worked for the club providing kit for their teams and supporting the players.

Coach Paul Crarey said: "He's a great bloke. He's been an outstanding and great member for the club.

"Whatever you ask him he does it and more.

"There are people who think the world of him and he really cares about the lads here.

"We wish him all the best. It's a massive milestone and he's doing what he does at 80.

"He had more energy than all of us. First in and last out.

"We think so much of him and long may it continue. When he decides to retire it'll be a massive loss to us.

"He's been working here for a few years. He came in when we started, and he took the role on. He was a lifelong fan before that.

"Hats off to him."

Club chairman Steve Neale said: "A very happy birthday Dick.

"He does a great job at the club.

"He's there seven days a week and works with the lads and the ladies team. He does a lot with the disability team as well.

"He is always there and never misses a step."

The club wished Dick a very happy birthday on social media.

The club wrote: "Happy 80th Birthday to our kit man, Dick.

"We’d be lost without you."
