FELL FOOT National Trust park is going to remain open until 8pm over the summer.

In a Facebook post, they said this was to 'allow locals and visitors time to drop in after work for a swim or just to enjoy the evening sun.

"Once in, you're free to leave when you wish. We're trialling it for the moment to see how it goes - please just remember picnics are welcome but not BBQs, fires or gas stoves," said the post.

Fell Foot National Trust park is at the southern tip of Windermere. It offers sweeping lawns for games, picnics and walks, and easy lake access for swimming and boating.

People can hire rowboats, kayaks, and paddleboards from Fell Foot's partner Stoked Watersports. Every Saturday at 9.am there will be a 5k park run around the grounds.

Parking is £6 for up to two hours, £7.50 for up for four hours, and £9 for all day.
