AN ENGLAND Wheelchair Basketball player has been praised by his former school for his success.

Tyler Baines was among a four-man squad who won the bronze medal for England in the Commonwealth Games.

Baines played alongside two-time Paralympic bronze medallist and current World and European Champion Lee Manning, as well current Diploma in Sporting Excellence athletes Charlie McIntyre and Abderrahim Taghrest.

His former school St James' CE Junior School have congratulated their former pupil for his success.

The school wrote: "How proud are we. Commonwealth Games.

"A huge congratulations to the Baines family and in particular our former pupil Tyler, who helped his England Wheelchair Basketball team to a bronze medal in last night’s bronze medal match at the Commonwealth Games against Malaysia.

"What a role model to show our pupils that anything is possible if you set your sights high.

"A fantastic achievement Tyler. Well done from us all."
