HUNDREDS of people gathered to enjoy local musicians and band at the return of a popular community festival.

PigFest returned after three years off due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The family festival, which was originally launched by Barrovian James Howden, was created off the back of his local food review Instagram account ‘Pigipedia’ where he would rate restaurants and takeaways in the area on his social media.

Hundreds gathered at the Holker Old Boys football pitch in Barrow to enjoy local musical talent.

One third of the PitchUp organisers James Howden said: "We’re really pleased with how the day went, despite not getting the weather, all the artists were amazing and the marquee was rocking. It certainly didn’t dampen anybody's spirits.

"We’re always looking for ways to keep our events interesting and unique. We’re lucky enough to play host at different venues with Holker Old Boys always being brilliant with us. This year's Pigfest included Nvrlnd, who really put on a show for everyone who came.

"Pigfest is one of the smaller events we do that has its own unique following. We thought the rain may have put people off but everyone said it was great and it was lovely to see new and familiar faces all having a good time.

Pitch Up Event organisers recently held one of Barrow’s biggest music festivals, where popular acts including Bad Boy Chillder Crew and Lowes performed.

James said: "Our events first started as we recognised all the great talent our town has. Local artists and vendors are at the front of everything we do and any success we have is achieved through them.

"To date, we have reinvested all our profits back into local sports clubs, and charities and hosting bigger and better events. We have ambitious plans for our growth and a pipeline of events that we hope will see Pitch Up continue to leave a positive impact in Barrow and the surrounding area."
