Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group's manager is working with parents and carers across Cumbria and Lancashire to support kids with sensory needs.

Alison May, Commissioning Manager Children and Maternity for Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group has been working in co-production with parents with children who have sensory processing needs.

In Cumbria the organisation have recognised that there are gaps in support for children who have sensory processing needs.

The team have been working with parents and carers to try and address this.

Engagement events have been held where leaders across health and education had conversations with parents and carers to understand their difficulties and perspectives.

As a result, an educational video about sensory processing difficulties was co-produced with parents.

A steering group has recently been set up which has SENDAC representation and we are now working with wider colleagues across Education Health and Social to develop a system wide graduated response for children with sensory processing needs.

Alison said: "I love working with parents and carers.

"They always tell us exactly how it is which is needed for us to make changes that really make a difference and improve the lives of children and young people in Cumbria."
