BARROW Raiders boss Paul Crarey was full of praise for his side's performance as they bounced back from last week's disappointing defeat to Halifax in a huge win away at York City Knights.

Crarey spoke highly of both the players and the travelling Barrow fans after the thrilling 24-16 win.

"I thought we were outstanding - there were times when we did drop a couple of sets towards the back end of that first half but when we complete 80 to 90 per cent we are a match for anybody in this league, and that's what we've done when we've won on the road against the big sides," he said.

"I said to them if we can replicate that in the second half then we could come away with a win.

"I just thought the spine was really good - Ryan Johnson, Jarrod Sammut, Luke Cresswell, and Josh Wood were amazing, and I just thought it was a clinical performance.

"We were pretty poor against Halifax, we all know that, we've been kicked from pillar to post - some of our own fans aswell on social media after the run we've had and what we've done this year, called us pathetic and stuff like that, but it's difficult to maintain consistency right throughout the season as a part-time team.

"You've got to stay with us. We've had a tremendous season, 21 points now won - so many games on the road unlike a lot of Barrow teams in the past in this division and I just can't praise my players enough.

"They've had a real tough week and had some harsh words from myself but they've never ever let me down as a group, they don't give up trying.

"Once we come out of the box, we become ordinary but when we stay in our box and our systems our individuals will get their opportunities to shine and that's what they did today.

"We're really looking forward to Whitehaven who had a tremendous performance today, a 26-all result at Batley so it's a recipe for a fantastic game and a local derby and I'd like to see both teams safe.

"Whoever brings their A-game after what have been tough games will be worthy winners next week."
