A workshop is being put on for nature photographers at South Walney Nature Reserve.

The event is hosted by NaturesGems Wildlife Tours, who recently put on a smartphone photography workshire at Silverdale in Lancashire.

The workshop will be led by a nature expert and a local photographer. It will go on from 10am to 3.30pm on July 6 with lunch included.

During the day expert Gemma will introduce the guests to the natural wonders of South Walney Nature Reserve.

She will share stories of the reserve while spotting wildflowers, birds and seals.

And photographer Mindy will help the guests understand their camera and provide photography tips and techniques to improve their skills.

The workshop is focused on digital SLR cameras, so the guests will need to bring their own camera body and lenses.

South Walney Nature Reserve provides views over Morecambe bay and is home to the only grey seal colony in Cumbria.

Other than seals, there are eider ducks, black-backed gulls, oystercatchers, ringed plovers and shelducks.

Many of these bird species are passage migrants on their way to and from breeding grounds.

The reserve features plants such as yellow horned poppies, sea campion and biting stonecrop.
