BARROW fans have been delighted as a series of draws promise exciting games for the upcoming season.

The fixture list for League Two was the first to be released - and the Bluebirds will be Manchester-bound on the very first day of the 2022/23 season, hoping to kick the season off with a win against newly promoted Stockport on July 30.

The first home fixture will be just a week later when Bradford City head to Holker Street.

And the season could be set for a climactic finish - with Barrow travelling to Brunton Park to face Cumbrian rivals Carlisle on the penultimate day of the season.

The home fixture against their northern rivals will be on December 10, 2022.

While if it all goes down to the wire, the final game of the season will be at home when the Bluebirds host Stevenage on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

The Peninsula Stadium and Salford City will be the destination for this year’s Boxing Day matchup. Tranmere Rovers visit Holker Street on Thursday 29th December, before Rochdale do the same on New Year’s Day.

Good Friday brings a trip to Crewe Alexandra and Easter Monday sees Barrow host Crawley Town.

However, the league fixtures were not alone in being released today.

Barrow will be travelling just a short way to Championship side Blackpool in early August for their first Carabao Cup fixture.

Meanwhile, the Premier League team which will be joining them in their Papa John's Trophy group was announced - with Manchester United U21s drawn into an already exciting group - with Barrow, Carlisle and Fleetwood.

This means that Pete Wilds' team will be competing against teams in every professional division this year - including seaside rivals Blackpool and Fleetwood, as well as Manchester United.

Fans will also be tantalised by the prospect of - at least - three Cumbrian derbies.
