CUMBRIA'S armed forces community are to receive free bus travel this weekend for Armed Forces Day 2022.

Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire is supporting Armed Forces Day 2022 on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June by offering free travel to Armed Forces personnel all weekend.

Armed Forces Day is a chance for the public to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans, and cadets.

Armed forces personnel wearing their uniform, carrying a military ID card and veterans wearing a veteran’s badge or medals will be entitled to ride for free on any Stagecoach bus as a show of support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.

With events planned across the region, as well as hundreds of smaller gatherings across the UK, it is hoped that personnel will take up the offer to travel across their local regions to the event of their choice.

Rob Jones, managing director for Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire said: “We are sending a clear and proud message to all our armed forces communities that we appreciate all their hard work, their bravery, and their commitment to serving our country.

“We hope that personnel choosing to travel to a local event will have an enjoyable day and we are delighted to show our appreciation for their commitment to our country.”

In 2015, Stagecoach Group signed the Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in support of the Armed Forces Community.

As a signatory of the Covenant, the company recognises the value of serving personnel; regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to both the country and businesses across the country.
