Barrow AFC's first signing of the summer has spoken about his move, and what fans can expect to see from him.

The Bluebirds' new manager Pete Wild raided his former club for striker Billy Waters after the 27-year-old's 21-goal haul helped Halifax Town into the National League playoffs last season.

In an interview, Waters said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be here, to get it done, to be back in the football league, and I'm raring to get going.

"You want to be wanted wherever you go, the gaffer who I had last year at Halifax coming here played a part, but on top of that speaking to Ian and he said the owners and him himself wanted me.

"It is nice to feel wanted, I am hungry to play every week and hopefully get us promoted."

Ask about Barrow AFC's ambition in the EFL, Waters said:

"Even being shown around the stadium, I can see how much the club has grown since I last came here which was years ago for Cheltenham.

"It's definitely a club that is moving in the right direction and I am really pleased to be part of it."

Talking about what sort of manager Pete Wild is, Walters said:

"He is not a screamy shouty in-your-face manager which is good for me. If you put your trust in him he will trust you back.

"Last season he sort of left me to it and left the team to it. We all bought into what he wanted us to do.

"Every manager is not for every player and vis versa but for me he was perfect for me and him coming here played a big part of me coming.

"In the end, it felt like the right move."
