BUSINESSES can connect with young people and take advantage of unlimited opportunities to promote their apprenticeships, jobs, work experience and other activities and events through a new interactive website and free matching and brokerage service.

Your Future:Here was made possible with funding from the Sellafield Ltd SiX Social Impact multiplied programme, enabling the development of the brokerage and signposting service.

It will connect young people aged 16-25 to opportunities with the county’s wider business community through one ‘plug-in’ place via the new website.

The Centre for Leadership Performance, working with members of Cumbria Future Leaders Steering Group, has created the new website that improves access to opportunities for young people.

Tracey West, social impact manager at Sellafield Ltd, said: “There are lots of great opportunities available for young people but often they aren’t visible for all to see. The brokerage encourages and enables our supply chain and other businesses to share and promote their opportunities and connect with young people, all in one place. As well as supporting young professionals, college students, apprentices and graduates, it also provides engagement and a resource for parents and educators.”

The Centre for Leadership Performance works to develop Cumbria’s leaders for today and tomorrow working with educators, young people and businesses from Primary education to Retirement, building our leadership community and promoting lifelong leadership learning across Cumbria.

Executive Director at the CforLP Sarah Glass said: “We know there is great work taking place across Cumbria to support young people but they also encounter barriers to seizing opportunities. We want to improve the structure to offer opportunities for all young people and promote all the great work taking place including making it easier to take up apprenticeships, jobs, and to access networking events and other resources in one ‘plug-in’ place.

“Through YourFuture:Here we want to encourage our business networks across Cumbria to send us details of their latest vacancies, apprenticeships or work experience opportunities and share any useful resources and information about events and support for this age group. We also want to encourage employers to promote Cumbria Future Leaders and the Your Future:Here brokerage and signposting service to their young workers in the 16-25 range.”
