BARROW Raiders forward Tom Hopkins has been named in the Wales 21-man squad to face France on Sunday for the first time.

The 29-year-old received his call up to the initial 30-man squad last Thursday for the first time with head coach John Kear selecting Hopkins for their test match against France.

The game will take place in Albi on Sunday 19 June, with kick-off at 2:30pm (3:30pm local time).

He is alongside Bailey Antrobus, Jude Ferreira, Owen Restall and Lewis Hulme, who are also included in the squad for their first potential Wales appearance.

Hopkins last featured in the Raiders’ 58-0 thrashing of Cumbrian rivals Workington Town last Sunday.

The game will be the first full international for Wales’ men in more than 1,300 days, since beating Ireland to qualify for the upcoming World Cup in 2018.
