BARROW AFC's highly-rated new midfield signing has given his first interview since joining the club.

Solomon Nwabuokei joined the Bluebirds this week after spending last season with Woking, where new Barrow manager Pete Wild faced him twice as boss of Halifax Town.

The 26-year-old spoke of his delight at making the step up to League Two:
"Words can't describe how I'm feeling right now.

"I'm excited, there's a lot of work going on at the club - that shows me where this club is aspiring to get to, the work that they put in matches my desire.

"I've made it to where I am now by progressing through non-league."

"First of all, I just enjoy playing football so that's what helps me most.

"Hopefully things will go the same way here at Barrow, I'll enjoy my football and we can progress on to the next level together.

"I'm a very energetic midfielder, I'm hard working, box to box, and versatile.

"I enjoy covering every blade of grass and getting stuck in.

"It's been one of my biggest traits throughout my short football career.

"I feel I can dominate the midfield with my energy, endurance, and strength.

"The gaffer (Pete Wild) knows what I'm about, how I play, he's seen me play twice last season from the opposition side, so for him to come and say that he liked how I played has given me a real boost in confidence.

"He's shown me how much he wants to do well, not just for himself, but for the club and all the players in the team.

"He knows Barrow's a good club, a big club, that can push to the next level, and it just needs the right personnel to do that.

"Their non-league days are over now, they're a football league club.

I don't think I know any of the boys here, but I look forward to meeting new players all the time - everywhere I've been I've learned from senior players, even sometimes younger players.

"I look forward to a healthy environment, learning and working hard for the new team"

Nwabuokei is Barrow's second signing of the summer after Pete Wild raided former club Halifax Town for striker Billy Waters.
