Barrow AFC's first signing of the summer has spoken about his move, and what fans can expect to see from him.

The Bluebirds' new manager Pete Wild raided his former club for striker Billy Waters after the 27-year-old's 21-goal haul helped Halifax Town into the National League playoffs last season.

In an interview, Waters said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be here, to get it done, to be back in the football league, and I'm raring to get going.

"I had a really good relationship with the gaffer last year at Halifax, and he's been one of the best managers I've had. so it was easy to follow him when he gave me the call.

"Last season was one of the best seasons I've had, personally.

"Coming here there's going to be more competition, it's a step higher, but I've played in the league before, and I feel like I deserve to be playing in the league.

"I want to score as many goals as I can and I want the team to get promoted.

"The last two seasons, being at Torquay, made the playoff final, and last year we made the playoffs, so this year I'm really keen to get it over the line.

"Being shown round the stadium today, I can see how much the club's grown since I last came here, which was years ago for Cheltenham, but it's definitely a club that's moving in the right direction.

Asked what type of player he sees himself as, Waters said:

"Ive always been a hard worker, I give it everything week-in week-out, I like to think I'm a bit of a nippy striker, a bit of a fox in the box.

"I gamble on everything and try to sniff out goals, and try to contribute with assists aswell.

"I played predominantly as a number 9 last year, but I can play across the front line or in a number 10.

The ex-Halifax and Cheltenham Town man said some familiar faces were helping him settle in:

"I know a few of the lads, I know Mark Ellis, and I know Josh Gordon, he was at Stoke with me when we were kids, and he's from my area aswell.

"It's always nice to go into a club where you know a few faces, because if not sometimes it can be a bit daunting, but I'm excited to meet the lads and get going.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what the first home game of the season's like here."
