BARROW was serenaded by the singing talents of Becki Fishwick to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

The ‘Vintage Songstress’ is a well-known local singer who performs a variety of music in the Lake District inspired by jazz, soul, and rock n roll.

She performed outside The Forum on June 2 as the Jubilee Celebrations began before hundreds of people.

Her singing voice attracted an estimated one thousand people during the course of the whole day.

Becki has several other events planned over the Jubilee weekend.

She said: “It has been so amazing being at the Jubilee Events in my home town of Barrow.

“I’m doing what I think of as a little tour, I’ve got a number of events planned for the area.

"I've done two events so far. I have an event at a care home later today and some afternoon tea for the residents.

"There is also a lady who lives close by who is organising a street party and they asked if I could do some music for them.

"I just can't say no to more events. I love it. I've got so much planned this weekend. It's all been so good and I love doing this.

"Barrow yesterday was lovely. I was really taken aback by how many people turned up. It was so well organised by The Forum and it fit in so well with the whole Jubilee experience.

"You could feel the community vibe and I really enjoyed it. Did a few vintage songs and there were plenty of waving flags.

"Seeing it all was amazing. Some people from the care home brought people down. It's been a difficult couple of years for elderly residents and now seeing them come out and enjoy themselves made me quite emotional.

"I am literally everybody's entertainer this weekend.

"Got nine events to do, done two already. They will be around Barrow and Dalton. A few street parties are coming up. On Sunday I've also going down to the Dock Museum.

"Next weekend I've got the Retro festival in Ulverston coming up so that will be exciting."
