AN AVID crochetier has spent weeks making jubilee-themed items to display on a market hall stall for the four-day bank holiday weekend.

Elaine Rose Anderton, from Barrow, has created a huge crown and many other red, white and blue themed objects including a miniature crocheted Queen and guard to be displayed on the Wool Baa inside Barrow Market owned by Wendy Gunning.

Elaine, who has been crocheting for more than two years, said: “I saw the patteen for the crown online and really liked it so I kindly got my wool from Wendy's stall and decided to copy the pattern and make it so it can be displayed over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

The Mail:

“I made other items including the miniature Queen and guard which have had a lot of interest since being displayed with people wanting to buy them. I never thought they would get this much attention so I didn’t think about making any more as the sole purpose of them was to just be displayed.”

Elaine said she will be auctioning her crown off after the celebrations are over as she doesn’t want it going to waste and would like to raise money for charity.

She said: “I had an inquiry about donating the crown to a school for the children to wear but I’ve decided to auction this one-off to raise money for St Mary’s Hospice as it’s a charity that is self-funded and deserves the donations.

The Mail:

“I will be making a small crown which I will then donate to my chosen school.”

You can visit Elaine’s creations this weekend at the Wool Baa inside Barrow market.
