A CBEEBIES star made a special appearance at Barrow parkrun on Saturday.

George Webster broke down barriers when he became the first CBeebies presenter with Down’s Syndrome.

The 21-year-old appeared at parkrun at the weekend along with his dad, who was born in Barrow.

George is no stranger to parkrun and has the honour of being an ambassador for the organisation.

The presenter finished the scenic 5k Barrow Park course in 33 minutes and 53 seconds.

Delighted about the visit, event organisers said: “It was an absolute pleasure to have George with us on Saturday and he was very happy to be stopped for photographs every five minutes.

“It would be absolutely wonderful if everyone was as smiley and happy as George. We look forward to seeing him again.”

George was one of 124 runners who turned up to take on the course at 9am.
