A CHARITY is encouraging people to join their fundraising challenge treks taking place this year.

Cumbria Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service (CADAS) has teamed up with the experts at Adventure Trails to host a Scafell Pike Sunset Trek in July and a Helvellyn Sunrise Trek in September. Both guided walks will help raise much-needed funds for CADAS -  a countywide drug and alcohol support service that focuses on both reactive and preventative community support.

Taking place on July 2, the Scafell Pike Sunset Trek will also include an additional peak, Lingmell, and end with a torch-lit walk back down to Wasdale.

A few months later, on September 18, there’s the opportunity to trek up to Helvellyn summit and watch the sun rise up over the horizon from Ullswater.

Leah Davies, Fundraising Coordinator for CADAS, said: “You really can’t beat getting up early to see the sunrise, or chasing the sunset into the dark, it’s one of the best ways to boost your wellbeing and improve your mental health.

“What makes our treks even better is that all participants also get the chance to help raise those all-important funds for CADAS, which help us continue the important work that we do across Cumbria.”

Each of these fantastic experiences are £35 (to sign up with Adventure Trails), with a commitment to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship for CADAS for each trek.
