THE cobbled streets of Ulverston town centre took a step back in time when they were lined with vintage and classic cars for an impressive motoring rally almost 20 years ago.
The Mail, on Monday, June 5 in 2000, noted: “The event was organised by the Furness and District Motor Club and saw models ranging from a 1998 Land Rover Discovery to a beautifully restored Lagonda dating back to 1928.
“The Market Square in Ulverston was filled with classic motors before the drivers left the town for the day. Motorists had the opportunity to take part in a 100-mile navigation exercise around Furness.
“Other drivers took part in skill sessions at Greenodd, Foxfield and Haverigg Airfield.
"Classic cars included Ford Escorts and Cortinas, Mini Coopers, MGBs, Triumphs and new models such as a Nova SR. The enthusiasts returned to Ulverston to enjoy a meal at the Farmers Arms.”
