Barrow loan striker Aaron Amadi-Holloway has been released by parent club Burton Albion.

The big frontman, who spent the second half of the season at Holker Street, is among five players let go by the League One club.

Amadi-Holloway, 29, made 14 appearances for the Bluebirds last season, scoring three goals.

The Welsh striker will now be on the free agent market this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Barrow could retain an interest in the former Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town man.

The Bluebirds are hoping to confirm manager Phil Brown's long-term status at the club soon.

Amadi-Holloway joined Barrow on loan in January under former boss Mark Cooper.

He went on to score against Northampton Town, Forest Green Rovers and Salford City, the latter two goals in key games which helped secure survival.

His time in south Cumbria followed his move to Burton the previous summer after spells in Australia with Brisbane Roar and India with East Bengal.

Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has released Amadi-Holloway along with Danny Rowe, Luke Redfern, Michael Bostwick and Oumar Niasse.

Speaking on the Brewers' website, the Burton boss said: "Bozzy was really influential when we stayed up last season and we’ll always remember him for that.

“It hasn’t really worked out for Danny and Aaron, and we will also be losing Luke and Oumar too, but we wish them all well and thank them for their service to Burton Albion.”
