Coniston Mountain Rescue Team took their 13th call-out of 2022 to come to the aid of a walker who slipped and fell.
On Saturday, May 8, at around 3pm, in fine, sunny weather, Cumbria Police called the team after reports of a man walking on his own who slipped and cut his forehead.
The walker was helped by passers-by and was able to walk a little further, accompanied.
Volunteers from CMRT met him at Hole Rake, where he was assessed, and the team saw fit to call for helicopter assistance due to a number of issues, and they kept him warm and gave him pain relief while they waited.
The team said: "Helimed 08 from Blackpool again came to our assistance, and it was decided to fly him to Furness General Hospital for further assessment and treatment."
14 volunteer team members attended for 2 hours.
CMRT was the first mountain rescue team of its kind formed in the UK, and is this year celebrating its 75th anniversary.
