The crystal company is the last producer of completely hand-blown and hand-cut, lead, luxury English crystal in the United Kingdom.

Its small team of 23 highly-skilled craftspeople produce luxury hand-blown and cut crystal, placing an emphasis on traditional techniques and processes which the firm says have barely changed in 2000 years.

Chris Blade, CEO of Cumbria Crystal, said the brand was ‘delighted’ to be featured in the film, which was released in cinemas on April 29.

He said: “We are delighted that the stunning Grasmere Collection once again features in the Downton Abbey films.

“Regular watchers will have noticed that our stunning hand-made crystal continues to be used for every formal meal in the family home. Luxury, opulence and the very best of British craftsmanship.

“Our association with successful brands such as Downton Abbey, James Bond or Bentley Motors is critical to helping Cumbria Crystal company weather the extraordinary economic situation we currently face and build our international reputation.

“Although not a household name It is wonderful that our small team of 24 is acknowledged in the industry as one of the best manufacturers of handmade crystal in the world.

“Diversification to more online selling is making our crystal accessible to wider markets and is helping keep this heritage craft alive in its purest form.

“Each item of crystal takes at least 10 days to craft - our artisans' hearts and souls go into each item made and we hope our fans and customers see their crystal as art not just glass."
