A special event for military veterans has been organised in Millom to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands conflict.
Millom Royal Naval Association and Millom Royal British Legion are holding the event over the weekend of May 21 and 22, and have written to all ex-servicemen's clubs across South Cumbria to ask for the participation of their members and standard bearers.
On Saturday, May 21, a formal charity dinner with veterans from Millom will be held in the Masonic Lodge on Cambridge Street.
Sunday, May 22 will see a more public event with veterans and standard bearers marching to Millom War Memorial for a short service of remembrance.
The organisers would like to encourage as many veterans, Falklands or otherwise, as possible to join the march.
The marchers will gather in the town square at 11.20am, with a service and prayers at 11.50am, followed by the Last Post at midday.
