A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD animal lover has helped raise much-needed money for a dog charity by selling delicious treats.

Samuel-James Devitt, from Dalton, has generated funds for Guide Dogs UK Charity after he held a fundraising bake sale at Marks and Spencers in Ulverston.

Samuel's mum Clare Devitt said he decided to hold a charity bake sale after he received an email from the Guide Dog UK Charity saying they were struggling with donations.

She said: "He loves dogs more than anything so he decided a couple of years ago to sponsor a guide do. We received an email a couple of months ago to say they were struggling with donations so Samuel decided to combine his love for dog with baking.

"He held a cake sale after baking all day to raise some money to donate.

"With help from the local community we have been donated cakes to sell, and a large selection of dog treats from Sir Woofchester’s of Barrow which is a new company just opened in Barrow and dog donuts from Dougs and pugs dog treats.

"All proceeds will be sent directly to Guide dogs.

"Samuel will also be visiting one of the Guide dog breeding centres to personally meet some of the dogs later on in the year.

"If anybody would like to donate they can do so by PayPal clairedevitt87@outlook.com we can accept donations up until the end of the month. "

Samuels's parents, Claire and Janette said they are both so proud and hope the community will be too.
