A NEIGHBOUR from hell has been jailed after he threatened to kill himself and hang out his front window to scare children.

Mark Trengove was jailed for contempt of court after he breached injunctions by threatening neighbours and visiting a street he was banned from.

The 39-year-old, formerly of Walney's Dominion Street, was sent to prison for just over six months by District Judge Russell Stone at Barrow's county court.

A judgement released after the sentence was passed detailed seven incidents deemed to have breached court orders made in 2020 and 2021.

On May 18 last year the defendant verbally abused his neighbour Ashley Fisher by saying 'I don't like you, I don't like your girlfriend', and by saying he hoped his neighbour's girlfriend would die, calling her a 'rat'.

The defendant further caused nuisance and annoyance to Ashley Fisher by saying he would kill himself and 'hang himself out the front bedroom window when the kids were coming out of school to scare as many as he could', the document said.

Later that day, carrying a jug of petrol and a water pistol, Trengove was said to have challenged Ashley Fisher's seven-year-old son to a 'water fight, causing his neighbours to 'serious violence'.

Trengove admitted that he also threatened Christine Bee and Mark Hine on that day, telling the latter 'you're going to get it'.

On December 1, Trengove was witnessed on Dominion Street, an area from where he was excluded, at around 1am.

Trengove was also sentenced for assaulting a police officer during his arrest that night.

The court heard he told PS Goss: "I'm going to beat the beard off ya, you understand what I'm saying, yeah?"

The judge sentenced Trengove to a total of 168 days in prison.

The contempt of court claim was made by Barrow Council.

Trengove was convicted of harassing Ashley Fisher on December 28 2020 and put on electronically-monitored curfew.

In February 2021, he was  freed from his tag after Preston Crown Court heard the device was aggravating his mental health problems.
