EMERGENCY service workers walked down the aisle to a Disney song before tying the knot in a magical ceremony.

Christine Saunders, 38, and Sean Bennett, 34, first met in work in 2018 when they noticed a ‘massive spark’ between them.

The couple, who both live in Liverpool, became engaged on their daughter’s first birthday – 13 months before they decided to tie the knot.

“During lockdown we used to have kitchen dates,” Mrs Bennett said.

“We'd get dressed up in nice clothes as if we were going out and take it in turns to 'host'.

“On this occasion Sean was hosting and he filled the living room and kitchen with candles.

“I turned around and he was on one knee.”

The smitten couple said ‘I do’ on February 26 at the Daffodil Hotel in Grasmere in front of 50 people.

Mrs Bennett said: “We have both been married before and learnt from our first weddings that we just wanted those closest to us there.”

The couple’s daughter, Christine’s seven-year-old daughter and Sean’s six-year-old daughter all acted as flower girls on the big day

“The wedding was just perfect,” Mrs Bennett said.

“We stayed in the Daffodil for the weekend and had a family room with our daughters the night before.

“The five of us went for breakfast and then Sean and I went our separate ways for the morning.

“Our youngest daughter had a meltdown when she woke from her nap and refused to put her dress on, but my mum managed to calm her down in the end. The doors opened and our two-year-old shouted ‘I don’t like it!’

“I walked down the aisle to 'I see the Light' by Mandy Moore from the film Tangled. It’s a lovely song and our daughters love the film.

“Our youngest ended up being carried down the aisle by my dad, who walked with me.

“Sean stayed looking ahead the whole time I walked down the aisle, to the point where I said: 'he's not looking at me!'.

“He had tears in his eyes, bless him.

“We laughed during the vows because we'd practised a few weeks earlier and kept stuttering through it.

“The song we walked out to was 'Accidentally in Love' by Counting Crows, because we hadn't been expecting or looking for it at all in 2018.

“We had an absolute ball at the party. One thing we love is a good party, a good dance and just a good laugh. The DJ was brilliant, the dance floor was full all night, even though the number of guests was quite small. The party finished at midnight and a few of us went to the residents’ bar where we stayed until 2.30am. The children were being looked after by grandparents that night so we made the most of it!”

The couple enjoyed a getaway to a glamping site in Lancashire after tying the knot and are planning an abroad honeymoon next year.
