A POPULAR music festival will be returning in 2022 after the disappointment of it being cancelled the last two years.

Croft Rock is one of Barrow’s most popular and longest ever running music festivals. It brings the community together for a day packed full of bands and solo artists taking to their two stages; The main Zaccarini Stage and The Doghouse stage.

The event will be returning to Crofters on Holbeck Park Avenue on June 11 from 12pm until 9.30pm.

Organiser Mark Rusell from Barrow said he was excited for the return after two years off.

He said: “It hasn’t really kicked in yet on the excitement front but we are all really looking forward to it and we’ve had a lot of good feedback off everyone and bands wanting to play so it’s going to be good.

“It usually happens on May bank holiday but because of the Queen's Jubilee the May bank holiday isn’t happening so we went for June.

A BAE engineer, Mark set up Croft Rock when he was bored one bank holiday in May so decided to set up a music event and raise money for charity.

He said: “It was a bank holiday in May 2013 and it was one of those mornings you get up on a bank holiday morning and there was nothing on.

“I thought well I’ve got a bit of musical gear and friends that play and sing and I’ll get them involved and set something up for charity.

“Over the years it’s just built up.

“The whole community get behind it and it’s a really good day.”

All proceeds from the event go to local charities chosen by the bands performing.
