RESIDENTS have been debating the new Mcdonald's which is set to open in the spring.

Readers have had their say as councillors prepare to consider a licensing application by the fast-food giant for its new Ulverston restaurant.

Since the application, residents have lodged complaints with some taking to social media to express their views.

Graham Wilson said: "Surely it is a good thing a few more people now have a job? It might not be the best but it's given some people a start."

Soutollie said:" It should never have got planning permission neither should have the Greggs drive-through."

Another good news day said: "It should be refused on the basis that it wasn't in the original application."

Steve Haddow New said: "Come on, it was the same with the little Tesco and Costa when they came to town, people complaining and moaning more recently with Aldi and Marks and Spencer the people who were complaining about them use them."

Mark Corkan said: "Are they selling the chicken big mac though? that's the important thing."

Carl Rigg said: "This is going to change nobody's lives apart from the people who want to use it and not have to travel to Barrow."

Fronts said: "They should make it 24 hours, 'im loving it' and like many others, i will welcome the opening in Ulverston of this great establishment."

Bill Kendall said: "That'll be nice for the people who live nearby, all the loud racer cars flying around till midnight and throwing their rubbish out of car windows."

Bryn Carter said: "Just wait till the McDonald's waste is all around the streets, there is McDonald's waste all-around Walney and we haven't even got one."

John Reid said: "Absolutely! and for all the people who have moaned about the fact its a chain and not a local shop. Take a look around the town and Greggs, Tesco and Spar and tell me what's local about them."

Ian Allington replied: "Enjoy the litter."

Ange O'Halloran said: "Saves people driving to Barrow too so hopefully eases congestion a bit on the roundabout by Hollywood Park."
