BARROW Raiders star Nathan Mossop has reflected on his time on the club after beginning a 12-month testimonial, as granted by the RFL.

The Barrow Raiders hooker, now in his 13th season at the club, has been commended for his services to the game of rugby league.

The Raiders team caught up with Mossop to learn more about his testimonial plans, his most memorable moments at the club so far and his ambitions in 2022.

“It might sound a little bit daft, but you don’t ever consider it when you’re playing,” he said.

“For me, it’s been a pleasure to play at such a great club where the coaching staff, the board members and the fans have supported me throughout my career.

“It’s fantastic to be given a 12-month testimonial, but I’m also looking to give something back to the club.

“I have quite a lot of my events based at the ground so I can share it with the fans. Hopefully we can get as many people onboard as possible.

“Probably the highlight of my career would be moments such as the end of last season.

“Winning League 1 to go up to the Championship was a fantastic achievement.

“It’s those kinds of moments that you’ll never forget when you finish your rugby days – special moments with special people.”

The hooker-by-trade went on to speak about his aims and goals for the current season and where he would like to see Barrow come the end of the year.

“First and foremost, my number one goal is to support the team.

“We’ve set ourselves some goals in terms of what we want to achieve this year, and the whole club are under no illusions that it’s going to be a very, very tough challenge.

“If you look at some of the teams in the Championship now, they’ve recruited very well. Some of the top teams could probably compete consistently in a Super League environment, so it’s going to be a challenging year.

“Personally, it gives me a good incentive to make it a successful year, on and off the field.”
