Barrow AFC have handed midfielder Tom White a new deal.

The 24-year-old has extended his stay at Holker Street until the summer of 2024.

It prolongs former Blackburn Rovers man White's second spell at the club.

After joining on loan in 2019/20, he joined on a permanent deal last summer.

And now the former Carlisle United youth player, who has made 28 appearances under Mark Cooper this season, is staying for longer.

Manger Cooper praised White for his contribution so far and believes there is more to come from him.

“I think I have spoken before when we have extended other players’ contracts, that you want good characters and that’s what Tom is,” Cooper told the club website.

“He’s low maintenance and I don’t have to worry about him when he’s away from the place because he’s looks after himself, he’s a good pro, he works hard, and he is getting better.

“I know Tom is keen to keep improving and he’s enjoying the way we play so he came to see me and asked if he could extend his stay - that was a simple discussion and an easy one to get done.

“He never lets anyone down and you know he’s going to give you everything he’s got every time he goes on the pitch.

"Even if he’s not playing well, he will give his lot and that is really important, so we’re pleased that he’s going to be staying with us.”
