A FORMER Barrow AFC player has been suspended for his part in a controversial video which surfaced on social media this week.
Yoan Zouma will not play for Dagenham & Redbridge FC in a competitive match until an investigation has been completed, according to a club statement.
A video emerged earlier earlier this week of Zouma's brother Kurt, the West Ham United and France defender, kicking and slapping a pet cat, while laughter can be heard in the background.
The club say that he was this week contacted by the RSPCA to assist in their investigation and is fully co-operating with them.
In a statement, they say: "Dagenham & Redbridge FC would again like to reiterate that it condemns any form of cruelty towards animals and fully understands the reaction of many of its supporters.
"Any further action deemed necessary to be taken will be made at the conclusion of the RSPCA investigation."
Yoan Zouma, 23, joined Barrow from Bolton in October 2020 and, after a loan spell with Altrincham, was released at the end of the season. The defender joined Dagenham in December.
