A MAN accused of assaulting an away fan at a football match is due to appear in court.
Tomas Downing was arrested after an away supporter was assaulted during Barrow AFC's match against Salford City at Holker Street on January 25.
The 23-year-old, of Euston Grove in Morecambe, is due to face South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on February 9.
Following the game police criticised recent 'unacceptable' behaviour of a 'small minority'.
Three supporters have also recently been banned from the ground by police.
"If others continue they will have the same outcomes," said PC Rickie Wallbank, the police liaison officer for Barrow AFC.
