RAIDERS captain Jarrad Stack has his eyes set on the finals for the upcoming Championship season.

He has not featured in any of the pre-season friendlies but is confident he can hit the ground running in their season opener against Sheffield.

Stack was due to play the last pre-season friendly against North Wales Crusaders, but the game was cancelled due to a combination of injuries and positive Covid-19 cases within the visitors’ camp.

"Moving into this Championship season we have been training more and more as a team which has been tough but hopefully will be beneficial," he said.

"I may have missed the friendlies unfortunately, but I have plenty of experience and I know what to expect in the Championship.

"It has been 10 years since Barrow last had a home game opener for the season I believe, and we have drawn one of the best teams we could have faced.

"I think everyone is ready. We had some great friendlies and beat Newcastle who are a full-time team which is great.

"We have a great squad, and it will be tough for anyone that misses out on the first game, but there will be plenty of games throughout the season where people will get their chance.

"It will be a disrupted season due to Covid and due to injuries picked up on the way, but we are ready."

The backrower explained that many in the squad have Championship experience and believes that the spine of the barrow team has remained a constant from last season, but that has been built on with the new signings.

He believes the crowd will play a huge part in helping the team get results - commending the atmosphere they provide.

"The supporters are definitely a big help even compared to the Super League we have one of the biggest crowds except for places like St Helens for example.

"I don't think many teams in the Championships will have bigger support than us, I know they give us a massive boost.

"I don't want anything but to make the finals.

"Barrow don't want to survive we want to make the finals. That is not just a personal goal, that is a team goal and the goal of the club."
