NEW recruits to Cumbria's on call firefighter training have taken part in training this week - learning the most vital skills of the trade.

Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said:"As part of our On-call training course, our latest recruits have spent their first week learning all about the use of fire service pumps and ladders and other crucial skills. The second week is all about their use of breathing apparatus, which are all really vital skills for every firefighter.

"They will shortly join their teams on station and spend the next two years developing their skills and attending further training courses on their journey to becoming ‘competent’ firefighters. This is done with lots of support from their crews in their home stations and also by our central training team. Well done to all involved!

"We will be looking for individuals later this year who are interested in becoming On-call firefighters. If you are interested, please register your interest via this website "
