A MASTERCHEF judge is among a team of culinary experts descending upon a Barrow hotel to serve Michelin-starred food in the name of charity.

The Lake District Farmers Armstrong Family Charitable Trust is hosting its annual charity dinner once again next month, which is cooked up by a host of famous faces.

Promised to be its 'best line up yet', some of the most celebrated names from the world of cuisine will take part in the charity event, including: Masterchef judge, Monica Galetti, Michelin-star chef, Mark Birchall, chef patron of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Matt Abé and more.

Over the course of two nights, the chefs will serve Michelin-starred food to raise money for the Lake District Farmers Armstrong Family Charitable Trust.

The organisation was set up in 2013 to celebrate the legacy of local businessman and philanthropist Ray Armstrong who died of cancer in April of the same year.

Held at the Abbey House Hotel and Gardens, the last event, which took place in February 2020 raised over £20,000 for a number of local causes.

Dan Austin, managing director of Lake District Farmers, said: "This is the first event we’ve had since February 2020 and it's the best line up we’ve ever had, it’s an absolute blockbuster.

"We have an incredible line up and already have 120 diners booked in.

"This is a brilliant chance to get in a room full of people, enjoy some incredible food and have a great evening. It’ll lovely to see the faces of some of our customers again."

Money raised from the weekend will be funnelled into the LDF Armstrong Family Charitable Trust, which through its monthly grant donations will continue to provide help and support to people most in need across Cumbria.

"It’s quite emotional for us here at Lake District Farmers," Mr Armstrong said.

"This is taking the charity back to its roots. Ultimately, the event is to honour the memory of Ray Armstrong and raise money to help change people's lives.

"The donations are the foundation behind the charity’s success. And it doesn’t have to be a lot of money to change someone’s life.

"We’ve really felt the arms of the industry come together this past year and can't wait for an evening of great food and great company."

Tickets for both evenings, taking place on Friday February 18 and Saturday February 19, are available on the Lake District Farmers website.
