Mark Cooper has hailed Premier League loanee Anthony Glennon for his bright start to life with Barrow AFC.

The Burnley man scored on his debut in the FA Cup clash at Barnsley last weekend.

It saw Glennon make a positive beginning to his half-season loan with the Bluebirds, which continues with the trip to Colchester United tomorrow in League Two.

Cooper said the ex-Liverpool trainee has set off on the right footing.

“When you’re a new player the first thing you want to do is gain the respect of your new team-mates,” the manager said.

“The best way is by performing on the pitch and he certainly did that last Saturday.

“He’s set his standard, and if he can get to those standards most weeks we’ll be delighted.”

A league debut awaits Glennon in Essex, while loan strikers Will Harris and Jacob Wakeling are also on board.

Speaking about the business done so far, Cooper added: “The deals were lined up last week, it was just a case of getting the paperwork done with the parent clubs.

“We had Will Harris done last week but that was an unfortunate situation [with Covid].

“Glennon was in last week, then Wakeling was lined up; we just had to wait for Leicester to release him.

“I’m pleased with what we’ve done. I’ve spoken all along about the type of player I wanted – I wanted players hungry and desperate to play for the club, and play minutes, and that’s what we’ve got.”
