CUMBRIA County Council will be running a series of workshops for Mindfulness through January.

Hosted by Cumbria County Council’s Adult Learning service, the sessions will help bring about a month of optimism - with new resolutions and motivation to make positive changes.

Adult Learning are offering a series of Mindfulness workshops online and face-to-face in centres across the county as part of their Health & Wellbeing offering.

Mindfulness is a technique based on awareness of our thoughts and surroundings which is said to help people become more self-aware, calmer and less stressed.

According to Mind, the mental health charity, studies show that practising mindfulness can help to manage common mental health problems like depression, anxiety and feelings of stress.

The upcoming online Mindfulness workshops with spaces left are:

  • Tues 1 Feb 10:00 - 12:00 - A Mindful Approach to Sleeping (£10, concessions available)
  • Tues 8 Feb 10:00 - 12:00 - A Mindful Approach to Relaxing (Free)
  • Tues 22 Feb 18:00 - 20:00 - Introduction to Mindfulness (£10, concessions available)

The online workshops happen in real-time online and could be done from home. Alternatively, face-to-face courses in learning centres are on offer, all following Covid-safe guidelines.

As wellbeing will be a priority for many in the New Year, Adult Learning offer many more courses on Health & Wellbeing - many of which are free - including resilience, positive thinking and for those who love the great outdoors - even navigation skills for the hills.
