Barrow AFC boss Mark Cooper hopes young goalkeeper Scott Moloney will benefit from a non-league loan spell.
The 20-year-old last night joined Northern Premier League Premier Division side South Shields for a month.
It gives the Bluebirds keeper the opportunity of some much-needed first-team football at a side who sit fourth in non-league's third tier.
Manager Cooper said: "We've been trying to get Scott out for a while - there's nothing worse on a Saturday than having trained all week and not be playing.
"It will be good for Scott to go and get some games."
Moloney has been understudy to No1 Paul Farman and player-coach Josh Lillis this campaign.
He has made two appearances this campaign, both in the Papa John's Trophy.
The keeper now links up with a South Shields side managed by former Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City star Graham Fenton.
He could make his debut against Radcliffe this weekend.
