The popular Irish fantasy is set in the multi-racial community of America’s deep South where people’s lives are turned upside down by the arrival of a Leprechaun.

Noreen Steel was the musical director of the show which included such well- loved songs as How Are Things in Glocca Morra?

Old Devil Moon, Look to the Rainbow and Come and Get It Day.

Heather Collinge played Sharon McLonergan and Gordon Woodhouse played her father Finian.

Og the Leprechaun was played by Doug Lowes, Woody Mahoney by Howard Newby, Senator Rawkins by Jeff Gibbon, Buzz Collins by Mike Woods and Susan by Jackie Richards.

The 45-strong company included six children. Dorothy Harding of Morecambe wad the producer.

In 1995 Ulverston Outsiders went on tour with their summer production.

The group was reviving the popular tap-dancing play Stepping Out which it first presented at Barrow Sixth Form College in 1991.

The 1984 Comedy of the Year by Richard Harris, which was made into a successful film with Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters, is about a group of women and a solitary man finding companionship and confidence at a tap-dancing class.

In the show tappers go through three months of tuition with Mavis (played by Beryl Dixon) and solve a lot of their problems in a humorous fashion along the way.

Marjorie Atkinson played the crotchety pianist, Mrs Fraser and in the class were Brenda Baxter (Dorothy), Bridget Brice (Sylvia), Joan Whittaker (Lynne), Linda Weldon (Andy), Helen Lawler (Maxine), Jane Duckworth (Rose) and Trevor Hughes (Geoffrey).

The play was directed by Pat Timewell.

The tour opened at Grange Victoria Hall and continued at Staveley Village Hall, the Coronation Hall, Ulverston, and the Victory Hall, Broughton.

In 1991 Ulverston Outsiders performed The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾. Other shows over the years have included 'Allo 'Allo.
