A NEW sandwich shop has branded their opening week a 'great success'.

The Mile end sandwich and deli bar, Moor Lane, Flookbrough opened its doors on December 28, 2021. Co-owner Claire Collins said: "Our first week has been a great success and supported by all the locals we offer daily specials and always happy for requests."

Claire co-owns the sandwich bar with her partner Kevin Hodge, who moved to the area 12 years ago to be closer to Claire who runs who has owned clean team cleaning services in Dalton in Furness for 13 years.

In October 2021, the couple fell ill with Covid and spotted the shop on Rightmove, Mr Hodge said: "We applied for the premises and 1 week before Christmas we got the keys an had to change the premises around from a hair salon to a sandwich bar we did the completion within 21 days thanks to Claire's dad for doing all our wood work, friends for lending us their van to pick up and collect equipment, ready for us to open our doors on 28th December 2021."

Claire said that businesses have been busy since the deli opened, she said: "We opened on the 28th and up until the 3rd it was just constantly none stop.

"It has eased off but it has eased off to a steady pace that we can cope."

Kevin and Claire said that they brought what they thought was enough food for two to three days for the time off year, the shop had to close on its first day as they ran out of food. Claire and Kevin said they were overwhelmed by all the local support that they have received.

The couple have also launched a 'Sunday dial a roast' which they say has been a 'big hit'.

All the ingredients at the deli is sourced locally from full English breakfast to dirty fries & homemade burgers.

Kevin said: "Myself and my partner are ready to open the doors to our next chapter, Enthusiasm is the core of everything we do."
