A BRAND new burger has hit McDonald's, and I went to Barrow's Hollywood Retail Park branch to try one out.

Now I'm not personally a vegan or a vegetarian, but I do like to try all different types of food.

I got a medium McPlant meal which comes with the burger, fries and a drink.

The McPlant burger was recently added as a permanent item on the main menu, becoming available at all McDonald's outlets across the UK.

The vegan burger is made up of a juicy plant-based patty which was co-developed with Beyond Meat.

It features vegan sandwich sauce, ketchup, mustard, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a vegan alternative to cheese in a sesame seed bun.

It has been Vegan certified.

The burger itself was £3.59, but if you get it as a meal it is £4.79.

I had a look at the ingredients and it is 16 per cent pea protein in the burgers.

After getting it out of the box I got a good bite of everything.

My first impression of the McPlant burger is that it was lacking in flavour to be honest.

It needs some more seasoning on it.

Don't get me wrong, it is not horrible in any way, it's definitely not like 'woah, this is not good', it's just simply lacking in some flavour.

Next I tried the 'meat' on its own.

It wasn't too bad, I'll be honest.

The burger patty was alright, it was just lacking in something.

As far as vegan food and vegetarian food goes, it is definitely the best one that I have had.

Out of all the vegetarian burgers and hotdogs, vegan sausages and sausage rolls, this is the best that I have had by far.

Would i buy it again? No, I wouldn't, because I am not a vegetarian.

But if I was a vegetarian or I vegan, I would go and get it and try it out.

The McPlant is not bad, but it is not great either.

The sauce inside the McPlant is just like a burger relish sauce.

I couldn't taste the cheese at all, but I could taste the onion and the tomato.

The bun is just like a normal bun.

Overall it is not bad though, not a bad effort at all.
