Barrow Raiders Coach Paul Crarey has spoken of pre-season preparations ahead of their first friendly of the season against local rivals Workington Town this weekend.

Asked about the wet and windy training conditions at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium, Crarey said:

"Horrendous conditions, we had a good session though - the pitch is very, very heavy though so it's going to be difficult for both teams if it carries on like this.

On whether the squad would be rotated over the three upcoming friendlies, he said:

"At the moment we've got some down with Covid so certain players won't play - we've got some amateurs that will get a run.

"We've also got a few knocks, so we had about 19 fit players ready to roll, and some are coming back from Covid.

"We might have to mix and match, and play players out of position, but I think that's going to be the story of Rugby League this season."
