A PIZZA delivery chain has revealed whether one of its Barrow sites is closing after the freehold was put on the market.

Domino's has dispelled rumours that its site in Roose Road is shutting after the freehold was posted for sale.

A freehold means that you own the building and the land it stands on outright.

The freehold at the site of Domino's in Roose Road is currently on the market for £350k.

A spokeswoman for Domino's said bosses have 'no intention' of closing the Barrow store and are 'proud' to have a long-term lease on Roose Road.

She said: "Since opening in 2018 we have enjoyed serving the residents of Barrow with piping hot Domino’s pizza.

"Despite reports of the freehold being for sale, the business is unaffected, we’re proud to have a long-term lease at Roose Road.

"We have no intention to close and can’t wait to see what 2022 brings for our colleagues and customers after an already brilliant start to the year."

The pizza delivery chain has two existing sites in Barrow, one on Roose Road and the other at the Cocken Valley leisure park in Walney Road.

Plans were first revealed to open a Domino's in Roose Road in January 2017 after an application was submitted to Barrow Borough Council's planning department.

In the plans, architects looked at transforming the former offices in A B Mitchell Developments base into a pizza delivery shop.

Permission was granted in November 2017 and in October 2018 workers from a shop-fitting company began work on the conversion.

According to the freehold advert listed on Corrie and Co, the site is a 'secure long term investment' for a potential buyer.

The listing reads: "Modern, purpose adapted commercial premises on Roose Road, Barrow.

"Excellent and prominent location, forecourt area to the front.

"Subject to existing lease, 20 years from May 13 2018.

"Initial rental £12,000 P.A, five years rent review."

Domino's came to the UK in 1985, with the first store opening in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Today, there are now over 1,200 Domino's stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
