NEW Year's Eve has arrived and Furness and the South Lakes has become well known for throwing the best parties and events to bring in the new year.
After Christmas had brought the merriment of the festive season to its height, many of us like to plan for the new year and begin our resolutions.
We have collected some of our favourite pictures from new year in Barrow and the South Lakes over the decades.
Brave new year dippers refuse to let the cold get in their way and several were captured from Millom in 1988.
